With a nice metal handle, better quality glass and a nice pour. Glass kettles are extremely useful for a tea lover, as they help us learn to gauge temperature with our senses. The easiest way to learn the temperature is to look at the size of the bubbles. There are four basic temperatures of water important for making tea: “baby water” (app. 65–70 °C), “crab-eye water” (app. 70–80 °C), “fish-eye water” (app. 80–90 °C) and “old man water” (100 °C), which is sometimes also called “dragon water”. Sometimes tea lovers add two other kinds of water as well, “shrimp eye” and “string of pearls”. All these kinds of heat are named after the size of the bubbles at these temperatures.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis glass kettle is a bit more expensive, but will most likely last longer. All glass kettles are relatively the lowest quality kettles, compared to ceramic, iron or silver. After you get established in a glass kettle, you can then move on to other kettles, occasionally lifting the lid to see if your feeling or hearing was accurate (even though this isn’t ideal, it can be a step in learning a kettle). He has been crafting teaware for decades, and is famous for using minerals and ores in his pots. One of the reasons we love his work has to do with the fact that he himself loves tea and all his innovations are based on experience drinking tea and finding solutions to his own love of tea preparation. In particular, he has focused on spouts and their influence on tea preparation. He says it took him seventeen years to make a spout he himself thought poured well. The spouts on these kettles are amongst the best we have ever tried—the pour is super smooth, fluent and graceful. Master Deng created the original piece, the mold and then engineered the results until they were to his standards. Many great potters through the Qing Dynasty and even unto the modern day have made their own Dragon Egg pots. This is the earliest Dragon Egg pot style, in homage to Master Shi’s piece. The basic outline is composed of oval lines, and the shape is simple and smooth, rough and honest, and the overall feeling is strong. The design of the body, the spout and the button all contain a triangular shape in the roundness. The handle is large and with the spout forms a triangular cone with a thick root, reflected in miniature in the button. The Qing Dynasty Dragon Egg pots became more subtle and elegant. The bodies were rounder and the spout was no longer triangular-funnel-shaped, but became round as well. The button of most Qing Dragon Egg pots was in the shape of a flat bead. That style is more common even today. This is the oldest style of Dragon Egg. Master Zhou Qi Kun made an original, and then each of these pots was half-handmade by his students, which makes them more affordable. He helped finish each one.
