Cloudstone Kettle

+

We are very proud to introduce our new clay, which is the product of a lot of hard work and experimentation to create a kettle that remains affordable while having the best possible effect on the water we use for tea. Cloudstone is a combination of volcanic minerals, rocks, crystals and iron blended into an earthy clay from deep strata. As we have found, it is easy to create a tremendous kettle by hand when cost is no object, but mold-making these kettles en masse and sticking to a budget has been challenging. We have refined the shape through many generations and are now moving towards shifting all our kettles to Cloudstone. We love the way these new kettles look, feel and the smoothness they offer in terms of water. They will be available in a dark and light variety, caused by a slight difference in firing temperature.
Next to a bowl, a kettle is the most fundamental piece of teaware. These all-new sixth-generation kettles are a great way to start your tea journey. The kettles are replicas of the antique iron tetsubin that we use the most here at the Center, connecting you energetically to our lineage and all that we do here at the Center!
These Cloudstone kettles are available in a dark and light color, caused by a slight difference in the firing temperature. The clay is identical, as is the effect. Due to this, each piece is unique with slight variations and marks from the firing process. We love the way that the kiln changes each piece in beautiful and unexpected ways.
Handle
These hand-cast handles were designed by Wu De, with a subtle indentation for your index finger to make for smooth and soft pouring. (We always recommend pouring from the kettle with your index finger riding down the handle.) They will “season” over time, changing in appearance as your hand touches them.
