Dharma Peel

These tea bags are called “Dharma Peel.” Each bag is a combination of 1980s shou puerh and well-aged ripened tangerine peel, called “chen pi.” Our aged chen pi is around twenty-five years old, though it could be as much as thirty years old. Chen pi is a Qi herb. It is usually used to regulate the Qi and dispel dampness (drying effect), especially in the middle jiao, the spleen/stomach. It is sour at first, but turns to an acrid/bitter flavor quickly. Chen pi is quite warming and drying. In general, it is great for digestive issues and stabilizing the Qi. Together with the aged shou puerh, this affect is amplified even more. This combination is quite good for digestion, especially for people whose digestive fire is low or have a lot of dampness. This is also a blend we reach for when we feel unwell or have guests who are starting to feel unwell due to something they have eaten or due to general indigestion.
