Abandoned Basket

This amazing Liu An is very special. The collector who shared it with us said it was from the 1970s, but loose leaf teas like this don’t have a verifiable vintage. What we can say for sure is that it is very well-aged. Also, it was a very high grade of Liu An tea to begin with. This we know from the fact that it is all-bud and was sold without a basket, as most common grade Liu An tea was and still is to this day. Such all-bud Liu An teas were often exported to Hong Kong where they were sold at a premium, since the harvest and processing was far more labor intensive. This is a very unique tea, with a thick, sweet and rich liquor that has a bouquet of complex flavors that rivals any aged tea we have tried. The energy is airy and uplifting, and less grounding than most aged black teas.
