This is a lovely maocha from this spring. It comes from old-growth trees in Mo Lie Shan, Mengku, in Lincang, Yunnan. The trees grow at round 1,800 meters above sea level. This tea is bold and strong, with a clean and cool bitter aftertaste that transforms to sweetness quickly, which is perfect for the summer. Lincang tea is known for a bitter flavor, but when it is from older trees, the bitterness melts quickly. The liquor is light yellow and bright, with a slight fragrance of wild honey. The energy is bold and Yang, but it does clear heat. This is also a wonderful tea for aging, as it is bold enough to be stored for a long time. We drank this tea gongfu and leaves in a bowl and enjoyed both very much. You could also brew this in a sidehandle pot, using fewer leaves for a simple, clear and clean bowl that is sure to be refreshing and gentle on a hot summer afternoon.
