Yggdrasil

Yggdrasil is our 2021 shou puerh. It is from old-growth trees in Mengku. Making shou from old trees is very rare these days, since the raw material is more expensive, and most producers would rather save such leaves for sheng. Since the leaves were larger and tougher, the producers had to do a deeper and longer piling than we usually prefer. Still, it was piled skillfully and is very mellow, without very much pondy, piling flavor at all. The liquor is super thick and incredibly creamy, with a wintergreen flavor and a long-lasting breadth and depth that thoroughly coats the mouth and throat. The energy is deep and earthy. This is a beautiful daily shou that is great for drinking, blending with older teas or for aging a few years.
