Cup Set

SOLD OUT

In the past, we offered sets of antique porcelain gongfu cups for Chajin to learn and practice gongfu tea, with the aim of improving your gongfu practice. Of course, antique porcelain always makes a better cup of tea, but the issue is that such cups are obviously not renewable and once we sold out of the sets that were donated to us, we could not get new ones. As a result, we set out to find the best quality, most beautiful porcelain gongfu cup sets we could find. We hoped to find something special, handmade out of good porcelain that makes fine tea and is beautiful, supporting an artist we admire.

Porcelain is a paste, and there are many recipes for making it. We wanted something without any industrial ingredients, sourced with integrity and well-fired: a cup worthy of fine tea.

Eventually, we were lucky to travel through China this year with the renowned Taiwanese artist Lin Yuejin, who is a very famous painter, calligrapher and tea lover. Born in 1957 in Yansui, Tainan, Taiwan, Lin calls himself “Yue Jin Ren.” He graduated from Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School and The National Chung Hsing University, Department of Environmental Engineering.

He is an amazing tea spirit and endows his cups with a powerful connection to the tea mountains that create the tea we enjoy. His sets of six cups are all inspired by the terroir of tea, handmade and hand-painted to capture the flowing movement of Nature through rain, water, mountain and sun to leaf. These are cups worthy of fine tea, indeed.

Every set will be completely unique and one of a kind. They come in beautiful kiri wood boxes that are calligraphed by the master himself.

Each cup holds approximately 25-30ml.
