Forest Floor Chabu
$88.00
Ho Wei Jen gathers plants near his home here in Taiwan and eco-prints them onto cloth, pressing the plant against the fabric so its own pigment is drawn out into the weave. What stays behind is the plant's own impression — the outline of a leaf, the run of its veins, the way it happened to lie that day. Nothing is painted on.
He works with an open mind and a real curiosity about what the plants and the cloth will say to each other. The dyeing has its own say in it too, so the results are never fully predictable and no two pieces come out alike.
Forest Floor measures approximately 135 by 30 cm, long enough for bowl tea and comfortable for gongfu as well.
