Vantage

Vantage is an old-growth red tea from Sun Moon Lake, harvested from ecological Shan Cha (山茶). It is what we call “ecological tea (生態茶, shengtai cha),” meaning that it is grown in biodiverse gardens with very little human intervention. It was produced by our friend and teacher, Mr. Liang Huang Yi (梁煌義) on his Watanabe Ecological Tea Farm (渡邊農園), which we all visited together on our annual trip in 2025. 

This tea is beautiful, rich and very complex. Trees like this are all unique, meaning that every bowl or pot of such tea is a blend of unique flavors. The result is a bold, complex and minerally tea liquor that is earthy and expansively grounding. This tea will also show very different facets depending on the brewing method we use, which makes it suitable to the types of experimentation we like to do in the autumn. It shines brightest when prepared leaves in a bowl.
