Gongfu

The Wanderer is a wonderful aged sheng puerh cake from the year 2003. It originally had no wrapper, so we cannot be entirely sure of where it comes from, but we suspect it is from the Yiwu region. Our friend in Malaysia bought it in 2005 because he tasted it and thought it was a great tea. It has been stored with him ever since. The humidity and climate in Malaysia is very steady, which results in smooth, even tea with a drone-like Qi. Our friend’s storage facility is very professional, so this tea is immaculately stored, with a crisp and bold flavor and enough astringency to demonstrate that this tea could also be stored for twenty more years. That said, it is very nice to drink now, especially when brewed gongfu. The liquor is thick and rich, with a bold and forward aroma of wild honey. It has a strong and warm Yang Qi that comes on slowly and steadily. Like its name suggests, this tea moves steady and strong, but at a slow pace.
