Dragon Pearls

Dragon Pearls are wonderful single-serve sheng balls from 2024. Most of the small cakes that we have encountered are either not good enough in terms of raw material, not clean or are too tightly compressed and do not come apart without boiling. Together with a friend, we set out to correct this, since these “dragon balls” are so convenient for a quick brew, mug tea or for tea on the go in a thermos. We chose old-growth raw material from Lincang and then experimented with several compression methods until we found a way to keep the balls very loose, so that they would open up when steeped and with ease. This is also better for aging. This tea is buttery, thick and bright with upward-moving Yang Qi. You can drink or age these small balls.
