Storage Set

This Storage Set is a chance to taste the effect that very different storage has on two teas of similar age and quality. Inner Pass was traditionally stored in Hong Kong, in a warehouse with high humidity and heat, for faster and deeper oxidation and fermentation. Mendicant, by contrast, was kept in very dry conditions in Malaysia, aging steadily and smoothly over twenty-five years or so.

Ideally we would run this experiment with the same tea, but a matched pair like that is hard to find, and this set is the next best thing. Though the two come from different raw material, the effect of storage on flavour, aroma and energy is still easy to recognise. Understanding storage in this way is an important part of our tea education, especially when it comes to puerh.
